The Perfect Foster Dads
I'm very relieved and happy to say that my biggest concern and source of stress about planning this trip has finally been resolved! I found a wonderful foster home for Ashley and Ahjah and would like to thank their new foster dads, Matt and Bryon, for welcoming them into their home while we're traveling. As everyone knows, I was really concerned about finding a good home for my babies while we're away and I wasn't having much luck finding a suitable situation since most people who like cats already have cats so finding a long-term, yet still temporary home was a challenge. Thankfully, Matt and Bryon both love cats and Ashley and Ahjah seemed to really like them when they were over for the party (although we all know Ashley is a whore and likes anyone who pets her). Nevertheless, the guys agreed to take them in and take care of them while we're away.
I drove the cats over before we left for Europe, which was a very stressful experience for all of us. I couldn't find the second carrier so I had to put Ashley in a box, which she eventually escaped from, but luckily not until after I parked at Matt and Bryon's instead of while I was driving. As predicted, once I let them out of the carrier (and box), Ahjah ran to the nearest closet (under the stairs) and didn't come out the entire time I was there, not even to say goodbye. I was a bit worried, but I knew he would come out when he's ready. Ashley, on the other hand, was Ms. Curious and wasted no time checking out her new surroundings and plopping down in the middle of the living room with a good view of everything in the room.
I was very happy to get an email from Bryon while we were in Europe with a picture of Ahjah stretched out and yawning. I responded saying, "I'm glad someone finally decided to come out of the closet". Apparently, the cats are adjusting just fine and their foster dads are enjoying their company as well. I don't think I could have found a better home for them and I'm glad things worked out so perfectly!
