The quotes above give a snapshot of some of the facets of who I am at this particular and unique point in the space-time continuum. Otherwise, I am a collection of star dust that, through the eons, has gradually condensed into a pile of organic molecules with a conscious. I like to travel and to see new places, people, and different ways of journeying through the existential experience most of us recognize as a human life. I find that my previous "walkabouts" have served as catalysts for self improvement. It would be rewarding to see this expedition produce the same results. I also hope to have some fun and enjoy the "hospitality" of the locals as often as I can. ;) |

While I have always been somewhat eccentric, upon getting to know me, I believe most people would find me fairly straightforward and uncomplicated. In essence, I simply endeavor to live according to a personal philosophy that has served me well throughout this journey called life. I have never been content with the traditional and take great pride in my determination and ability to chart my own path. I thrive when faced with new challenges and opportunities so I try to extend the boundaries of my comfort zone when I can. I have long desired to travel the world because in order to truly understand and appreciate all this world has to offer, one has to see, touch, hear, smell, and even taste it for himself. At the same time, as much as travel is an exploration of different people, places, cultures and ideas, it is also an exploration of self. While I could never see and experience all that I desire during this ambitious tour, or even throughout the course of my lifetime, I will never even begin to realize my dreams if I limit myself to arbitrary rules and expectations. So as I embark upon unknown and unfamiliar places, I hope to increase my knowledge and understanding and expand my level of consciousness, while also giving of myself as generously as has been given to me, not as a citizen of my country, but as an inhabitant of this world. And at it's conclusion, my desire is that this trip will have helped to propel me further down that long road toward my ultimate enlightenment. |
